I’ve been around music all my life. I played the flute in my elementary and high school band, I sang in the church choir (even cut a Christian record with my choir that was pretty big), and I can still read music after all this time. It doesn’t matter what genre it is, I appreciate music in all forms. But one of my favorite years for music has to be between the 50’s and 60’s. My dad would always play me ‘old school’ music while riding in the car with him. And that music has stayed with me for years.
You can still catch me listening to James Brown on my iPod while cleaning my home. Well, I usually don’t get much cleaning done because I’m dancing around most of the time… but it’s a favorite past time of mine.
So today, I’d like to pay homage to my mom and dad by sharing my 50’s and 60’s music playlist with you. I love this playlist because it features real musicians in the background instead of a synthesized sound. And if you’re having a rough day, this playlist is guaranteed to turn that around.
I love so many old school tunes that I couldn’t fit them all inside this spotify playlist (even though I was very tempted to do so and make this the longest playlist ever). So this is an abridged version of my favorite ‘old shool’ tunes. So click on Spotify, take a break for awhile, and allow the music playlist to transport you back in time. By the way, if you plan on listening to this at work, make sure you use your headphones.
What are some of your favorite old school songs? Share them with me below, in the comment section, and let’s talk about it. Until next time…
