Get a daily dose of inspiration and honest storytelling in your inbox.
KiaSalter.com is a lifestyle brand with one purpose, to help women design their own lives – we also help guys too, so men feel free to look around.
We share short but compelling stories, feature stunning interiors and cultural arts, and have honest conversations to help create the life you want to see both personally and professionally. And we also throw in a bit of web advice from a 18 year web design vet, just in case you might need it.
Please feel free to leave your feedback at the end of every post. We read them and would love to know what you want to see on this brand.
“It is within your power to create the reality you want. So you be funny, you be sexy, you be all the stuff people tell you you’re not… ’cause what do they know.”
Kia Salter started her career as a self-taught web/graphic designer at the age of 18. And at the age of 21, she owned and operated her first web company that worked with known celebrities and notable brands. Wanting more, Kia decided to create this blog as a creative outlet in 2010. And as her blog grew over the years, so did her desire to bring a fresh point of view to the lifestyle blog niche.
So in 2015, she rebranded and created a space where she could have honest conversations and inspire women (and men) with more than just a perfectly curated website. “My core philosophy is to help others, which is the main reason why I rebranded. The editorials I write now are meant to inspire someone to design their own reality in their personal and professional life. Life is boring when everything around you represents someone else but not you. So instead of copying someone else’s journey, try being your authentic self. And if you need a little help discovering who that is, allow this brand to try to guide you.”
in 2016, Kia decided to take her core philosophy a step further and turn her blog into a business. So she wrote and self-published her first book, about her rebranding experience, entitled Dare To Rebrand. She’s also launching her first inspirational art poster collection in December of 2017 and will be creating a new way to learn through online courses in 2018.
A native of Newark, N.J., Kia currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. She loves lemon tea, yearns for chocolate and buffalo wings (not together of course), and always craves hot french fries (I mean, there’s nothing better than a hot french fry).

I’m a foodie which means I have a lot of favorites… french fries, chicken wings, guacamole, etc.
Anything I’m listening too. You should definitely check out my Spotify playlist on the blog.
Both. Sometimes I wanna kick ass and then there are times when I wanna be soft and flirty.
My readers. I read every comment and I love creating content for them. They’re the reason why I do what I do.
Not so much a book but a poem I wish I’d written is ‘Phenomenal Woman’ by Maya Angelou.
How to be more empathetic to other ethnic cultures. We’re more alike than we think.
There are so many brands who are doing extraordinary things. Just to name a few, I will say Ford or Lincoln car company, Rolex, Franco Sarto, Cynthia Rowley, Elie Saab, Everlane, HP, CB2, Ikea, Samsung, etc.
Neutrogena, Dr. Brandt, Tri-Peptox, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C serum.
I’ve basically done it with this blog design. But one thing I’d love to do is speak at blog conferences. I want to share all of the knowledge I’ve learned over the years and hopefully it will inspire someone.
Chocolate cake with a hard chocolate ganache on top… with ice cream.
Both. Home decor shopping is thrilling but font shopping is relaxing. I’m such a nerd and I love it.
Shit. Which happens to be my grandmother, my mother, and my uncle’s favorite curse word too.
My mom. She’s so amazing. She’s my superhero. She’d kick The Hulks ass.
Carnations. They get a bad rep but they are beautiful when bunched together in the same color.
Tea. Definitely lemon tea.
Both. But lately, showers. I’m on the go usually.
Ducktales. I love Ducktales.
The Bernstein Bears. I also love Amelia Bedelia and Charlie Brown.
She did it her way. The life of Kia Salter.
I wanted to be a child advocate lawyer, an interior designer, or an entrepreneur. But I feel like I’m still growing up every day. Growth doesn’t stop when you become an adult. So ask me that in 5 years.
